in spring i thought it would be different
and it was
a different breed of worse
different i guess than winter
but worse
it ended and i laughed
because another spring
for better or for worse
was over
summer came
and i enjoyed thinking about
summer things
like
summer kisses on purple lips
and
dirty lakes with dirty kids
but i never kissed
in the summer
and i never went swimming in the lake
but now
as the autumn fires return
and the branches twist like minutes
i accept the fact
that i too will fall like leaves
into winter into
spring
into summer
